In the book, it would be scored as 3-4, designating an assist by the first baseman and a putout for the second baseman.
Each position on the defense is designated by a name, such as pitcher or shortstop. All are designated by a number also, for scoring purposes. Those number designations are:
1...Pitcher
2...Catcher
3...First base
4...Second base
5...Third base
6...Shortstop
7...Left field
8...Center field
9...Right field
