Dan asked: Hi!

Can anyone tell me anything about this old negative on glass photograph... I reversed the image (inverted) so as to be able to see the photo... I'm seeing either a RHC or a PHC on his jersey but can't for the life of me figure out the team or time period! Any help greatly appreciated.

Rick answered: Wow, what a great picture!

Is there writing or something embroidered on the boy's cap? Possibly a town team uniform.

Hopefully one of our readers will have some expertise in this area. If so, please contact Dan at the email above.

I will see if I am able to put the pics into a blog at checkswing.com, a baseball social networking site. There is a vast array of expertise and experience there, you never know.

The background scenery looks to be East coast or Midwest.

Please let me know if you are able to find anything out.

I previewed the page before loading it. It does look like the letters are RHC or PHC. The boy looks to possibly be in a band uniform of some sort.

Rick

Clues...
by: Dan

I have nothing more to go on other than what can be seen in the photo. We can see his shoes, glove, belt, cap and jersey... now all we need is the person with the knowledge or research skills to put it all together for us! Thanks in advance to anyone taking the time to figure this one out.

Added info!
by: Dan (Central Va.)

I have been told the little boy is wearing a 6th Rifle Brigade (B-6) cap from WWI which should help us with the time period to find the baseball team!

Dan: Thanks for the update. Those are definately crossed rifles on the cap.

Any clues based on where or how you came by this photo? Another place to check might be Baseball Almanac

Great site for historical baseball statistics and information.

Yours in baseball,

Rick
