Judy asked: I was told that at a recent San Francisco mlb game, a batter had in-cycle hits, in order.

If true, who was the batter?

Rick answered: Judy, thank you for your question.

The most recent cycle to be accomplished was by Nolan Arenado, of the Colorado Rockies. He hit for the cycle on June 18, 2017.

The cycle you were interested in, is called a Natural Cycle, where the hitter gets a single in the first at bat, followed by a double, then a triple and finally a home run.

The cycle that Nolan Arenado hit for was not a Natural Cycle, he tripled in his first at bat, then singled, doubled and finished with the walk off home run.

A special accomplishment indeed.

Following is a list of all 13 players who have hit a natural cycle, and the year they accomplished it:

1. Bill Collins 1910

2. Bob Fothergill 1926

3. Tony Lazerri 1932

4. Charlie Gehringer 1939

5. Leon Culberson 1943

6. Jim Hickman 1963

7. Ken Boyer 1964

8. Billy Williams 1966

9. Tim Foli 1976

10. Bob Watson 1979

11. John Mabry 1996

12. Jose Valentin 2000

13. Brad Wilkerson 2003

Yours in baseball,

Rick
