The Ole Ball Game

how do you score a certain play

by andrew battisto
(durham, nc)

Andrew asked: Runners on 1B and 2B.

Line drive to SS. SS catches the ball, tags 2B then throws the ball to 1B, for an inning ending triple play.

Rick answered: Andrew, thank you for your question.

It would record as 6u-6u-6-3. Two unassisted putouts, and one assist with the first baseman getting the putout on that end.

Each individual out should be recorded in the base runners record, in the book. That way it shows their base running was terminated at that point, and which out of the inning it was. Makes it easier when you go back through after a game, to total things up.

Yours in baseball,

Rick
