Matt asked: Two men on, in home team's last at bat. Score tied 0-0.

Batter hits a line drive to the gap.

Both base runners reach home plate.

Is the final score 1-0 or 2-0 ?

Rick answered: Matt, thank you for your question.

In the situation you described, the final score would be 1-0. To score all runners, the batter would have to hit a home run, out of the park, in which case the final score would be 3-0.

Once the first runner crossed the plate, the umpire should have declared the run scored, and the game over.

Yours in baseball,

Rick
