The Ole Ball Game

rookie pitcher era

Anonymous asked: Rookie pitcher, 1st inning, 1st game.

First 3 batters walk, next batter hits grand slam.

Pitcher injures self, never pitches again.

What is his era?

Rick answered:Thank you for your question.

Not exactly sure in what context you are referring to "era".

If it is in reference to an individuals status, in this case "rookie", then that would be what you are looking for here.

A pitcher's "rookie" status in MLB doesn't expire until he has spent 45 days on the 25 man roster, or pitched 50 innings or more.

Yours in baseball,

Rick
