The Ole Ball Game

Live or dead,fair or foul?

by Dan Bartko
(Farmington,MN USA)

Dan asked: If a batter swings and the batted ball hits the ground and then comes up and hits his knee, trickles fair right in front of the batters box, without him ever leaving the batters box,is the ball live or dead?

Rick answered: Dan, thank you for your question.

When the ball comes up and hits the batter, in the box, the ball is immediately dead.

Pitch becomes a strike, if less than 2 strikes. With two strikes, it just becomes a foul ball.

Yours in baseball,

Rick
